The North East Essex Clinical Commissioning Group website provides information to support the healthcare needs for north east Essex. Formally established in April 2013, our organisation employs around 130 staff and is required to work within our budget of £437m.

Accessing healthcare during COVID-19


If you're concerned about the health of a child, please don't ever worry about seeking help. Even in these challenging times, the NHS is here for you.

You can always refer to this list of symptoms to look out for in poorly children. Why not keep it handy by downloading it to your device, or printing it and sticking it to your fridge?



A note about blood tests from 1 October 2019

The public has asked for simpler services, which has led to the creation of an Urgent Treatment Centre which has replaced the Walk-in Centre. The Urgent Treatment Centre at Colchester Hospital does not provide walk-in blood test (phlebotomy) services.

You continue to be able to access blood test services from your GP practice. Please contact your GP practice for a blood test appointment.

They may signpost you to the walk-in blood test (phlebotomy) service at the Primary Care Centre in Turner Road and give you a form to take with you. The service is available:

Monday to Wednesday: 7am-2pm



Out of Hours Service from 1 October 2019

Please be advised that if 111 have booked you an appointment with the Out of Hours Service, this remains at the Primary Care Centre in Turner Road. It is not accessed via the Urgent Treatment Centre at Colchester Hospital.

Other services that operate from the Primary Care Centre are:

Ground Floor

GP referral X-ray
Community paediatrics including physiotherapy, speech and language and specialist services
Renal outpatients and dialysis devices
Community dental services
Turner Road Surgery

First Floor    

All ophthalmic services including theatres, outpatients, retinal suite, orthoptics, optometry, emergency eye clinic

Second Floor

Oral surgery



One to One Midwives

Dedicated Maternity Helpline Set Up
One to One Midwives ceased trading on Wednesday July 31, 2019. NEECCG will not support the payment of any subsidiary arrangements through One to One practitioners or their associates.
Colchester Hospital is caring for those women affected by the closure of the One to One maternity service and a dedicated helpline has been set up.
Anyone needing information or advice should call 01206 742369. This line is staffed from 09:00 until 17:00 Monday to Friday until further notice. For non-urgent issues, please leave a message and ESNEFT Hospital Maternity Team will contact you.
Out of hours, for urgent health concerns or issues, for example, no baby movements, waters breaking or if you think you’re in labour, please call 01206 845240. This will take you through to the hospital maternity triage team of midwives.




From Wednesday 15 May 2019, dermatology services have been provided by ESNEFT.

Due to decreasing demand, the ESNEFT Dermatology service will be closing their dedicated Dermatology Patient Advice and Liaison Service (PALS) ‘Hotline’ that was set up for north east Essex.

This will happen as of Thursday 21 November. This means that, from Thursday 21 November, calls related to Dermatology should be directed to 0800 783 7328 (freephone) or 01206 742 683 (office hours 9-4). Alternatively, you can email PALS@ESNEFT.nhs.uk or direct written concerns to:
